The Morgan family was in Stewart County TN in the early 1800's, having moved there from South Carolina.  Stewart County Tn is adjacent to Trigg County KY, and you may wish to find information for KY also.

During the Civil War, things were quite bad in Missouri, as military and raiders from both sides operated in the state.  At about this time, some members of the Morgan family moved on to other locations.  These include California, Oregon, Washington, and Texas.  Several of the Morgans moved to Ellis County, Texas.
